hi people of the cow. i want to say that i have tried any combination possible for rendering from AE7 to avid and got low results, meaning , every pixel aspect ratio ,format , interlace. upper lower targa seq tif png jpg quicktime animation. best quality , and imported in many different ways
i work on mac on AE7 and avid xpress or news cutter andernalin is on pc.
    and i`m in PAL land.

the one thing i havent tried is recording the lossles file from after to dvd and capture it in avid. that might work but slow process.

if any one can help i`ll be very very very very happy. bcuz i`m starting to lose my mind. thank you very much.

Not sure what you are doing, but you are certainly screwing up your import settings it seems. In XPress always import upper fields first and RGB color levels when you have rendered out stuff from AE (with proper fields, of course, at 720×576 px, 1.6667 ratio for standard DV stuff) If you want to include Alpha channels, make sure your composition background is black. XPress always assumes that. Beyond that there is not much you can do – if you import your stuff into XPress using DV 25 or DV 50 it loses a lot of its sexiness. The only way to get decent quality is to work in 1:1 res. I’d also stay away from rendering out stuff from AE using Avid CoDecs – just too much trrouble.

Are you talking about exporting? Because if so do NOT use the “export” feature. Either pre-render or make movie.

    Hi,

what does “low results” mean exactly? Artefacts, messed up colors or stuttering frames?? I never had problems rendering PAL-Sequences in QT with Avid Meridian Codecs (upper field first) and importing them between MAC/PC but the colors do shift when changing platforms (seems to be a Gamma-Thing)… do you have a similar problem?

ok. today i tested it. and found out that there were some lower fields dv footage. so i rendered in lower field first and imported the same.
in the monitor looked alot better but a little smeary pixels still there . so i exported in avid by quicktime reference and converted it in canopus 2. and what can i say.. works like a charm.
    🙂
    thanks

    btw.
yes. there is a change of color and brightness contrast, but this is becuz diffrent color profiles i belive. thats why a monitor in both systems is a must. i`m getting another one as soon as i can
and dont forget to make it broadcast safe for t.v

The change of colour / saturation is in my case not just a monitor gamma problem. If I import clips from WIn on MAC and encode them to DVD the result is more flat than when encoding directly on Windows… the difference is also seen on standalone DVD-Players then. How do you solve the change in Gamma and Saturation between platforms?
