Amen!…and the web also. I read many knowledgeable folks who mention DPI for video and web. There are no inches on a TV or monitor.

What version of Premiere? What is the resolution of the stills?
Are you exporting with the same aspect ratio as the Project Settings (4:3, 16:9)? -
I might be blind, but your graphics look fine. Displaying graphics on a computer monitor at anything other than native resolution can cause ugly artifacts. Change the zoom level of the Program monitor to 100% to inspect.

Why?
P2 is just an acquisition format like HDV, XDCam and others, all variants of 2 temporal codecs (H264 and Mpeg 2).
HDV is recorded to DV tape and one could back up back to DV tape if one wanted, but I cant see the value in exporting back to hard drive or media cards using an acquisition format rather than a target format like H264 or Mpeg 2 for BD or Windows Media for web or local playback.Now if this discussion is about cross platform editing, I am out.

Use it for what? There are plenty of export options other than .avi that are better for most purposes.

If you do not see video on your camera’s LCD, no capture will happen. Many cameras have a menu setting like DV-in and AV-in.

I have one system and have built several others running CS3. All are now long in the tooth (P4), but Premiere runs almost flawlessly on all the systems. The biggest issue is exporting Mpeg 2 for DVD occasionally results in obscure error messages. Restarting the PC usually fixes.

Does not Cam Studio offer export as Techsmith Screen capture codec or Full frames uncompressed?
Camtasia does and Premiere can edit the Techsmith stuff. -
Overclocking often cause system instability. Suggest you put your new system through it’s paces for a while without overclocking.
