It’s a matter of personal preference whether you render to AVI or MPEG.
I prefer to render to MPEG from Vegas as this gives me a lot more control over the bitrate, quality level, etc.You said I render to DVDA 4.0 format to save time.
What template are you using?I always start with the DVD Architect NTSC video stream template for video and and then modify it as desired.
Audio is the AC-3 Stereo DVD template. -
If you’re watching it on a computer monitor, this is normal.
Burn a short segment to a DVD, play it on a TV and see if the problem is still there. -

Are the problem images in TIFF format?
If so, change them to PNG or JPG and I (almost) guarantee that your problems will go away 🙂 -
As long as it’s OK after your capture is finished, don’t worry about what it looks/sounds like during capture.

How long was the video?

Only the portions that have FX applied to them will be re-rendered.
The codec in Vegas is very good though so the quality loss will be minimal.
You could use nested vegs (Vegas 6 and newer) and avoid this compression completely. -
Paul, if you Google John Meyer Deshaker, you’ll find a few sites that have a tutorial (and links to the required software) for the original version.
If I remember correctly, the one I linked to was for specifically for Vegas 7. -
I would do this Photoshop. You can also use Paint Shop Pro or any other graphics program you want.
Make the image 720 pixels wide by whatever height you need. Try 1500 pixels for the height as a start. This can always be adjusted later if necessary.
Make sure to do it on a transparent layer so that the background will key out when you bring it into Vegas. Saving it in PNG format will allow this as it has alpha channel capability.
Remember about the safe title area. Leave a minimum of a 10% border all the way around so the titles don’t get cut off when they’re displayed.When you bring the finished graphic into Vegas, use either Pan/Crop (my personal preference) or Track Motion to move the image up the screen. Adding keyframes will allow you to pause it at the desired intervals.

Look into DVFilm’s Raylight ($200).
Apparently it allows you to drop MXF files right onto the timeline or import them directly into the bin.
There are tutorials, a trial download and much more on their site.
