How can there be a anything but a “lack” market interest for something that doesn’t exist yet. I would have to guess it was more like they were just not able to make it work. I had a lot of hope for this device and 160 GB is a lot of extra storgae for the bucks then 2 16 GB cards. Two bad, wish they made it.

Make sure you do not over look the advice on the extra RAM, buy 3rd party save and you will even end up with 5GB.
Do the same with hard drives if you are planning to add them, go 3rd party and save.

First how was your footage shoot. 24PA or 24P, it sounds like you shot it in 24P which would not allow for proper pull down removal.
FCP6 will allow for playback of mix footage timeline so that may answer that problem or you. The new app color may aksi work for you in the geometry room. I guess you would edit a your footage in 1080 and then conform it to 720.

For what it is worth, Phillips just came out (or at least I just show it) a DVD-R that has component in as well as Firewire. Just got it but have not tried to record to it, my plan is to send a DVCProHD timeline to it via Kona3 analog component out.

I just did a test and it seems I had the same issue with 1080i 24PA, comes in as 29.97 but if I go to Tools and do the remove Advance Pulldown the clips is corrected to 23.98. Seems like 720P 24P is coming in correctly. Retimed clips had to be run through the Pan convertion tool to be corrected.

Do you have the content folder and files that you made the disc imgs from? If so have you tried them, Footage does not have to be put back on the P2 to import into FCP.

I just installed the drivers for the adapter and P2 card. Seems to be working fine. Shoot a test with 720 24PN @ 24 frames, 12 frames and 60 fps and they all imported just fine all 23.98.
1080i 24P csme in as 29.97 and 24PA came in as 23.98
I’m running the lastest update of FCP5 on this system.Did a dump card to a hard drive had 5.3 GBs and it took just less then 5 minutes to copy to a FW400 drive.
Ejected card and reinserted and showed up fine, even ejected the adapter itself and it came back up which they list as not being able to do.
My only complaint is the design, the cord is very think and short. not very managible if you are working in a cramped space.
This is a great boost for P2 workflow.
Side note finder icon is a P2 card.

Color alone is worth the full price of a new version, so an upgrade is well worth it. If you work with Motion and STP there have been major improvements to those and they are worth the upgrade price.
If all you do is stay in FCP and don’t really want to do more than 3-way CC there have been some nice improvements to the app but the main buzz is what you can do outside of FCP and roundtripping in and out to the other apps.
Anyway to slice it though you get a great value for a $500 upgrade.

With FCP 5.1.4 it can see the clips as scanned if you shoot in the P2 mode. So they are still 2:16 clips but import will see them as whatever length you did the record.
