This reminds me of a time I worked at a camera store and a customer wanted the exact same image in an 8×10 as her 4×6 and I told her it would crop some off the top and bottom, she would not have any of that and said she wanted it to contain the exact same amount of image, I told her to do that it would distort the image or she could have that if she went to a 8×12. She shook her head and said “I thought you guys were professional.”

if you lay them out in a sequence (which it sounds like you have done, just export a ref movie self contained and use these as your angles. Just use in points to sync up the angles.

how is your new drive formated. do you have the -av-1 and so on the orginal drive? seems like they got segmented, could happen if the drive is formatted as a PC drive.

the reason that hardware accelaration in not needed with ProRes is that it is a full raster codec, meaning on a 1920×1080 timeline it is 1920×1080 vs DVCProHD which is 1280×1080 so the rescaling requires a lot of processor power which the Kona cards pitch in on.

But you need to note that ProRes HQ needs more than twice the hard drive bandwidth as DVCProHD.

No, what is included (as Color) is the old Final Touch. I’m sure people will agrue which is better but I would say that they are similar in that they are both HIGH END color corrector. My guess is that it will be hard for SA to get many new users for FCP 6.

It is the exact same box, the cd is different in that it looks for a prev. serial number if it is not founds it ask for it before installing.

I would hoping for a Color manual and disappointed that it was not one. But I also think all the FCP books are a waste of paper (trees) and would like the option to save even $25 an not get them. I bet taking them out of the box would save Apple thousands in shipping alone.

But wait a month and get the Color training book that is published by peachpit press. those books are worth their weight in Gold. In my opinion that are the best way to learn a new piece of software.

The other problem is you really do not know if your transfer is good or not without hooking it up to a computer. I tried a P2 Store once and it would be very scary to transfer data and then erase the card before verifying the files.

So add a LCD screen and playback to the wish list.

As I understand it is the way this devise works you really don’t even get 60 GB, It has (8) 8GB blocks to hold a P2 “session” so if you transfer a half full card you lose 4 gb of space.

Which level of ProRes did you use. I want to go from DVCProHD to the smaller ProRes 422 to keep the file sizes close to DVCProHD.

Hopefully I get FCS2 tomorrow but won’t be able to install until Thursday afternoon.
