I’ve started shooting with the Firestore FS-100 with my HVX200. Certain projects I’m shooting straight to the QuickTime format to use it as a Direct to Edit hard drive.

My question is how do I use the multicam edit tool in fcp now that clips are limited to 9 minutes in length? I long seminair I’m shooting with two cameras one camera being the HVX and the fs100 and the other being a SDX900 to tape.

For the one camera shooting to tape I have thre clips, for the other camera with the FS100 I have 20 clips. The problem with the HVX200 and the FS100 is that you can’t jam sync the timecode with the sdx900’s BnC timecode out port. So they are set to free run time of day and are synced manually nothing exact.

I have laid all the clips from both camera on a timeline together and synced them up, and can cut it via an old style multicam technique of using the razar tool and bringing the opacity down on the top track
… but yuck! can’t I use the multicam edit tool somehow?

I even made to sequences, each with a camera angle and a mark in mark out to match time code. Can I make those sequences clips and then multicam edit those?

    Thanks!

if you lay them out in a sequence (which it sounds like you have done, just export a ref movie self contained and use these as your angles. Just use in points to sync up the angles.
