[David Battistella] “Just one of those treats you find with the new install.”

well on the same topic but a different subject… as part of my FCS2 instal I updated to the latest OSX. As I am new to MAC is it my imagination or did Apple change the way the DVD drive ejects? I remember it use to be instantaneous but now I have to hold my finger on the eject key for a second or so…..

Ditto here. I thought it was just my system acting up at first but it seems that many people are reporting this. Must be a feature…

    I’ve noticed this as well.

Does anybody know what would cause a g5 dual core to eject its drive tray on startup and leave it open?

All 3 of our protools systems do this and its annoying (they are all sticking their tongues out at me lol)

The quad G5 does not do this.

They don’t like your choice of music? 🙂

Honestly have never seen a system do that. Maybe look at your Startup Items and see if there’s anything strange in there?

Holding the mouse down will auto-open the upper optical drive. Suggest you have a logon or startup app or script that is holding down the mouse button. I do not know Protools but if you have a control surface for it, there’s likely a fader or pot that is programmed to be a mouse button.

Could also be an Entourage setting?

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

There are wireless keyboards and mice on the 3 protools stations, but not on the quad G5 I wonder if thats whats causing it.

This was added as of 10.4.9 to prevent accidental ejecting. Also if you hold the control eject keys this brings up the sleep, resart shutdown dialogue but you must hold the keys longer to get the dialogue box.

This is a feature. Not a system problem.

I noticed it too and I hate it. We should be able to have control over this, just like mouse tracking speed. You call it a feature, I call it a pain in the ass.
