You can find a Philips and I believe a Panasonic model that can both do this. But I highly recommend AGAINST this. With both our older Philips model and our new Panasonic model, the firewire signal is majorly degraded by a lot of additional compression. Signal actually looks much better going in to the machines via composite and analog audio.

We have used it for fast deliveries of dailies, and it worked fine (and this was shot on film 24p, so it was actually a necessitie to use this method… pal+decklink+24p does not work smoothely)

For what it is worth, Phillips just came out (or at least I just show it) a DVD-R that has component in as well as Firewire. Just got it but have not tried to record to it, my plan is to send a DVCProHD timeline to it via Kona3 analog component out.
