Have you tried setting the field dominance of the project in livetype?

If you want it to look like a tape is rewinding why not actually do it. Just drop the sequence onto a tape then take off deck control, hit capture now and start rewinding. That way it’ll look really real.

Lets simplify it even more. 2 clips with a 5 frame hole in between. If I set my in and out on the timeline to fill the hole the duration field in my canvas window says 5 frames. When I make an edit from the viewer it fills 5 frames just like the duration field said it would. It does not lay down six frames of video. If however I mark in at the first frame of black and move 5 frames down the timeline to where the black ends and mark out the duration field shows me 6 frames. So now if I make an edit from the viewer it’ll will edit in a 6 frame clip since there was a 6 frame duration on my selection. I don’t see an extra frame.

No frame is getting added. If you have a five second hole between two clips and you mark the in and then hit +500 to move 5 secs you are now parked on the first frame of the next clip. If you zoom small enough to see frames on the timeline there is a dark grey frame indicator box showing the fram you are parked on. It shows that though you are on frame x, frame x does not end until frame y . so when you mark an out at frame x you are marking it at the end of frame x (ie the begining of frame y), which happens to be one fram longer than the duration you want. it’s not adding an extra frame, it’s including the frame the playhead is parked on.

Next time you might want to post Motion questions in the Motion forum. But to answer your question there are a few different ways to get slomo in Motion. You can select the clip in the media tab then in the media tab in the inspector you can set a slower frame rate on the clip. You can also get slo mo by using the scrub filter which will let you get a little more precise. Just be aware that it’s a little more like AE’s time remapping (you have to keyframe it) than it is like FCP’s (you don’t just enter in a percentage.

Yes I use the bloom glow in Motion quite frequently.

With the border star on the bottom, It still creates a freak out layer underneath the video star. When I make it the topmost layer it’s still looks like the photo’s I posted. It’s the border of the star that causes the problem. When have the fill box checked and then I check the outline box that’s where it freaks out. I can check an uncheck the outline box and the problem comes back or goes away.

What if your project file becomes corrupt? I hope you “save as” occasionally so you have some sort of backup.

I’m guessing you are seeing some aliasing b/c there is too much detail in the pictures. By any chance are your images scaled to like 15% in motion b/c they are so large. If so that’s likely what’s causing the problem. Any large photos I get and need to use, I always bring into photoshop and resize them, usually to no bigger than double the dimensions of the project i’m working on, though most of the time i just rezise it to slightly above my dimenions enough to compensate the zoom or pan i’m doing.
