[Steve Radley] “Get 2, the same size. I got a 23 and a 20, 2 years ago. I got the 20 to save a little money. I regret not spending the extra cash. It just looks and feels out of balance on the desktop. “
I’ve used this setup for years and love it. the 23 holds my timeline and canvas area and the 20 has my bins/effects/audio mixer. If i had 2 23’s i’d have a lot of empty space on the second 23.

Thanks Peter, that’s one of those why didn’t I think of that things. Sometimes I forget there are forums other than the ones I visit everyday. And yes they are looking into some sort of SAN configuration for the shared media. Sure it’ll be convenient and increase productivity a bit but I don’t think it’s necessary for the type of work we do. A 58K pricetag is a lot for the relatively minor benefits it will give us if you ask me. But I don’t spend the bucks around here, I just push the buttons.

I just tested it on FCP 4.5 and it’s the same way.

All the clips might have to be the same duration to begin with. Then you can highlight them all at once and change all the durations. If they aren’t the same duration it seems to subtract one frame less than the shortest duration from the longest duration and that’s the new duration it shows in the box. If you hit enter it then modifies all the clips by subtracting that shorter duration (the one frame less number) from them all. Then your shortest duration clip is 1 frame and all your other clips are the same amount shorter. I’m not sure how It would play out in FCP 4 but this is how it works in 5.04. Hope this helps.

Have you tried Motion? I’ve been happy with it’s scaling. It’s better than Final Cuts.

Walter’s right. For the amount that I use it, the price is well worth it. Not to mention that it works flawlessly. I only wish it would make a quack sound effect when it finishes importing into AE. Since It doesn’t make that sound, I’ll often make clients do it for me.
