Put a blue colored matte on top of the files right click on the matte and add change the composite mode of the clip. Try overlay, screen, or multiply and play with the clip’s opacity. This should get you what you want.

We do this for people all the time. I tell people to make an uncompressed version of ther sequence and export a quicktime of that as a self contained. and place it on a transportable FW 800 drive. That way I can plug in the drive and lay it right to digi via SDI.

[RJ] ” have also tried MPEG StreamClip and it comes in handy for some other things. I recently was given a DVD with .mpg files. The audio would not transcode over. I was ablwe to demux the audio and then marry the audio to the transcoded video track.”

DUH!! Man I should have thought about that. We had a problem with some audio on some MPGs last week and it took me a long time to figure out a solution that worked. Stremclip would have saved me a few hours. I’ll remember that next time.

I’d take shane’s advice on DVDxDV. We use to patch a dvd player in and capture now as non-controlable. It was a pain in the ass and took 2 people. We paid the money and go DVDxDV and it was well worth it. I’m actually pulling stuff from a DVD right now for a project. It also lets you set an in and outpoint for capture. Very handy.

If i’m doing some scaling, I’ll usually do 1.5 times the screen size. So on horozontal photos the horozontal size is 1080ish (sometimes i’ll do them 900) an virticles are differet each time depending on if I’m going to make them full screen. You can use automator to resize them all for you. it’s super easy.

Yes, Shane is right, Auto Select must me on for the tracks to ripple. Also it will only ripple the length of the clip. It will not remove a gap that existed before you deleted the clip.

June 21, 2007 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Graphic card update

Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but…. We were looking at upgrading a graphics card on a G5 dual to put off a full upgraded edit suite for another six months or so. It took me about a day of reading online and calling around to find out. It’s virtually impossible to upgrade the card on this machine at this time. ATI pretty much stopped production on the only available option. Read on the mac site and somewhere on the cow that people had ordered them on ATI’s website and had been waiting for 6 months for the item to be restocked. Some people finally gave up. The only thing you might be able to do is find a card on ebay, but I would would never trust a used Graphics card (but that’s just me). So we were forced to make the decision to go ahead and upgrade the whole machine/edit suite. Good luck, but I’m afraid you’ll run into the same problem.
