still size for FCP
Posted by Luke Pearson on July 2, 2007 at 1:36 pmWhat is a good dpi size for stills in fcp? I’m making a slideshow and the last one I did the files were so big it slowed my computer down a lot.

July 2, 2007 at 1:42 pmhey luke. a good size is the maximum pixel resolution you need and no bigger… thats going to vary depending on whether you work in SD NTSC or PAL or HD, and whether you intend to add pan or zoom motion on those stills

July 2, 2007 at 1:53 pmthanks. The video will be SD NTSC and I do plan to pan and zoom on the pictures. What do you think?

July 2, 2007 at 2:11 pmIf i’m doing some scaling, I’ll usually do 1.5 times the screen size. So on horozontal photos the horozontal size is 1080ish (sometimes i’ll do them 900) an virticles are differet each time depending on if I’m going to make them full screen. You can use automator to resize them all for you. it’s super easy.

The ‘dpi’ does NOT matter in FCP, only the image size (H x W)
Neil.
