Two Fibre connections at once
I’m building a new system for FCP and was looking at getting a Fibre RAID. My boss tells me that there is a chance that down the line we’ll be getting some sort of SAN for shared media. I was wanting to know about Quad-channel Fibre cards and if that would be the best option for multiple fibre connections. Are there any problems/things we should know about this kind of set up? Is there a better more reliable option? Money’s not really that big of a deal, but we don’t want to end up spending 4k more for set up to access a local array and the SAN and then end up not getting a SAN after all. Guess i’m looking to minimize the amount of wasted money in case we don’t end up getting a SAN. thanks in advance.

A couple of ways you can do this
1) Multiport card
2) Switch zoningI’m not going to go into the nuts and bolts/bells and whistles as to which one works well and which doesn’t because EVERY san system is going to play a little differently further down the road.
