Today I was working on a spot and ran into a problem. After I Finished the spot I went in to try and figure out what was causing the problem b/c i’d had this problem. Basically I was using the 5 sided star as a transition. Here’s how I’ve been recreating the problem
in the bottom layer (fixed resolution checked and set to 720×486) container I’ll place a video track and then a star shap above it and set the compiset mode of the star to stencil alpha and set the size to 400% and rotation to -27. Next I’ll create a new layer container to go on top of the other layer container (fixed resolution as well 720×486). Then I’ll duplicate the star object and transfer it to the top layer container, and still have no problems. Set the star to composite type normal and still no problems. Then I go to the shape controls and uncheck the fill box and check the outline and set it to 3. that’s when all hell breaks loose and I get this:

Mind you that fixed resolution is on so if I go back into the layer properties and set the fixed resolution to something smaller it looks like this:

So the top layer container just freaks out. but it’s confined to the area of the layers bounding box. Also strangly enough if i just apply a filter, pretty much any filter whatsoever to that offending star object like say a basic 3-d or a glow or anything like that the problem dissapears completely.

I’m just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this or knows what might be the cause of it. Can motion just not clip layers containing vector graphics properly so that it’s maxing out my graphics card’s capability and creating video feedback on that layer? Any help would be great.

What happens if you move the duplicate star by itself to a new layer at the bottom of the stack, change to Normal mode and outline only, then move it to the top of the stack?

With the border star on the bottom, It still creates a freak out layer underneath the video star. When I make it the topmost layer it’s still looks like the photo’s I posted. It’s the border of the star that causes the problem. When have the fill box checked and then I check the outline box that’s where it freaks out. I can check an uncheck the outline box and the problem comes back or goes away.
