    Hey all,

This question is totally subjective, I don’t use glows on footage much, just the occasional glowing text. But, I have a nice little project I’m working on which I think could use some glows.

It’s a girl playing the piano, shot widescreen, all I used was a big softbox overhead so it’s real pretty. I’d like to put a warmish halo/glow on her, but there are so many in my effects bin I don’t know where to start. BCC chroma glow looks nice, though I have to disect it to find out how to controll it, it’s a bit complex at first glance.

So, any thoughts to make this look classy would be gratefully accepted, if there’s a plug I don’t have I could always look at getting it.

    Thanks!

Old favorite… put duplicate clip above, then add blur. Apply clip with “screen” composite mode. Adjust opacity and blur of uppder clip to taste.

Motion has a nice set of glows as well if you have it. I like the Bloom.

Yes I use the bloom glow in Motion quite frequently.

    Hey Bret,

Wow, I remember that, it was first described to me from the Meyer’s AE book, they called it “instant sex!” Those Motion effects sound good too, I’ll do a round trip later and see how it goes. Thanks guys!
