Hi,

To add on to what Luke has mentioned about NLE support for native XDCAM HD.

There are currently no XDCAM HD compatible codecs in FCP. Even if you install the Sony XDCAM HD Transfer software and use the easy setups provided by Sony, the setups actually use HDV as the compression codec which means that transcoding is still necessary.

Should FCP start supporting XDCAM HD natively (with the necessary codecs installed), we should be able to support it for real time playout as well.

Hi,

Blackmagic Deck Control isa Quicktime based application and will capture to Quicktime’s .MOV format. If you need AVIs, use Adobe Premiere Pro which captures to .AVI.

It’s about 198 Mb/sec for 1080i50 and about 237 Mb/sec for at 1080i59.94.

Hi Jason,

If you need realtime cropped output (centre cut), then you’ll need the Multibridge Extreme. This is the only product that has that feature.

Unfortunately, we do not have any real time pan and scan and you’ll have to do this in FCP and render.

Hi,

When you’re playing a DV clip in a DV timeline, we handle the field issue on output.

When you use an uncompressed PAL timeline and drop a DV clip into the timeline, Final Cut Pro is the one handling it. It adds a Field Shift filter to the clip as it sees a different field order between the DV clip and the timeline.

I’ve managed to replicate this problem and it is most likely an Apple issue and we’ll notify them.

Sure. Chances are your VCR is using a composite connection on its input. Just use the Y output cable from the DeckLink card and rememeber to switch the card’s output settings to composite.

You’ll need converters for your audio to bring it to the right levels. The DeckLink SP’s output will be too hot for a consumer VCR. Try something like this:

If you take the clip captured using Final Cut Pro and use Blackmagic Deck Control, does it play out?

Do you get a video desktop on the output of the card when just in the OS X Finder?

You need to update your drivers. If you don’t want to use the 5.6.2 drivers, try either the new 5.7 or the older 4.8.1 drivers depending on the version of Final Cut Pro you’re using.
