THe Multibridge Pro should be powered up first before starting the Mac. It should be powered down AFTER powering down the Mac. If you choose to leave it on 24hours, that’s fine as well.

[brownmaxxx] “When I play my .avi captures back with Windows Media Player, they don’t look up to the quality I would expect. These are uncompressed 1080i, using either the Blackmagic HD 8-bit 4:2:2 Codec or the Blackmagic 10-bit 4:2:2 Codec. In either case, I see a lot of edge noise around objects. It is similar to compression artifacts and I see a lot more of it in high-motion scenes. But why would this happen with uncompressed .avi?

The artefacts might be already in the source video before they were captured. This is the most likely reason. The broadcasters will not be streaming uncompressed video, but probably in an MPEG2 stream to your set top box.

Please try the v5.6.2 driver as that is the last non-universal binary driver for use with Final Cut Pro 5.04.

Hi Noah,

Can you provide more information:

1) Exact model of your G5. Is it a Dual Core G5 or Dual Processor G5? If it is a dual processor G5s, does it have PCI or PCI-X slots?

2) Version of DeckLink driver you have. If you’re not on the latest, download and install that and see if it’s still happening.

3) The make/model of the monitor you’ve connected the output to. Is it via component or SDI?

4) Any issues with HD monitoring?

5) Are you using hardware or software down conversion?

Hi,

If you’re able to capture SD via Final Cut Pro and not HD, then your camera is down converting on its output and sending SD video to the Multibridge Extreme.

You do not have to specific whether the input video is SD or HD. Multibridge Extreme will auto detect the input. However, you do have to tell the Quicktime Digitizer which format to expect. This is done in Final Cut Pro (or Blackmagic Deck Control) via the easy setup.

The RGB 10-bit codec (HD only) is also 4:4:4 so the quality will be much better.

Hi Simon,

Use the Blackmagic 10-bit codec. It will work fine in your FCP timeline using Apple’s Uncompressed 4:2:2 codec.
