I’ve been getting this intermittent problem in FCP – when I hit play, sometimes the audio is a little crackly and drops out for a second or two, and then locks in and plays fine. Sounds like a piece of hardware isn’t decoding the digital stream quickly enough.

I’m working in primarily 2 channel stereo 48k timelines.

    BM HDplus 5.8
    Dual G5
    FCP 5.1.2
Flying Cow hooked up to the RCA SPDIF from BM and then I switch used a balancing converter and put in the AES in (problem persists).

    Hi,

This should be addressed in an upcoming driver update.

Ah…. any idea when? It’s a bit embarrassing when you’re playing back final sequences with clients in the room…

Don’t have an eact date but I think it should be sometime next week as you can tell from our past release dates.

We’re getting the same thing. Glad to hear a fix is in the works.

I’ve always thought that this was a problem of having the ‘stop playback on dropped frames’ unchecked. My way round is to make sure when I’m playing back just to give a 5 sec run up. It usually happens when you start playing audio from say half way through a fade in or when it’s part of a rubber-banded clip. Similar thing happens on Avid you may be pleased to know!
