Got Soundtrack Pro? (Part of new Studio)… it has a feature that will work really well for this… the buzz isn’t going to be easy to delete with FCP I’m afraid.

Probably have an installation issue. In other words, t’s not a bug…
So the fix is an uninstall/reinstall… If your install of Tiger was an “upgrade” and not a clean install… I’d do that too.

Yes- up to 4000 pixels in either direction.. put in sequence, double click the clip there, then in the motion tab… play with scale and centering…

the record viewer? you mean the Canvas after placing clips in a sequence? Are you having to render these clips in the sequence? or? How do they playback in the Viewer?

It’s the camera’s problem… Canon’s cameras aren’t very friendly and burn extremely poor qualtiy TC signals. The “Quick” fix is to dub the tapes to DVCAM, and generate a new timecode track in the process I’d think.

Gotta say that what you are attempting isn’t easy to fix. Got Soundtrack Pro? That has features that will do the job a ton better than FCP can do…

Walter, I’ve not had to do this at all… HD projects have been all HD shot or created… but how does the terranex box look? Is the material still a bit soft? I can’t wait until this box is less than 20k… I might be a player… but they don’t come very cheap these days. ya know? There aught to be a service bureau out there doing this…

July 6, 2005 at 11:18 am in reply to: Losing Audio Sync over long clips…what causes that?Longest capture I’ve ever had to deal with was 90 minutes, and it worked perfectly, however it was DVCAM. Not mini DV…
The generous post made by Don is not quite on the mark however… if the audio was recorded at 12 bit, you need to change the capture preset to 32 kHz.. FCP doesn’t automatically recognize anything, and neither does any other NLE… but in your case, I don’t think this is the problem. Reason is the sync isn’t off far enough.
It’s much more likely that your disk drives dropped frames and THIS WILL cause an out of sync problem like you describe. Post more about your setup, what are the specs of your scratch disk, and what exactly was the source material on DV or DVCAM or?

Might consider a dub thru a teranex box… I’ll wager this is as good as it gets.
