I agree this seems to be a “sticky” shortcut… there’s not an option to change unless maybe trying remapping the keyboard shortcut (tools menu)…

Search on HD…
But that said, my personal favorite is a Kona 2 card and Huge Systems arrays, Apple’s X Serve RAID, or a Medea setup. You want the fastest arrays you can get your hands on for sure…

No but you do need to set which project file or bin you want to capture to… right click on a bin or on the name column of the project file, and select it to be the “logging” bin… see if that doesn’t clear up your problem.

In the Scratch disk settings, turn off any file limit size and any restraint on the capture now duration, and see if this doesn’t improve things.
Also FWIW, FCP 5 no longer allocates disk space…

If you choose file/exort/QuickTime Movie check on Use “Current settings” then the file should be a perfect copy of the original. Check the other boxes OFF…
If you select another codec or even the same codec there, it recompresses the media (what you want to avoid). Any other export is going to degrade the quality… because of the recompression.

Log the material past this point and see if you can’t capture it… if you still can’t I’d suspect the source machine or the tape itself… i.e. this isn’t a software problem don’t think.
