minor issue
Why do I sometimes have to press option+i two times to clear an in point in the timeline? Is this a preference setting I can change?

I agree this seems to be a “sticky” shortcut… there’s not an option to change unless maybe trying remapping the keyboard shortcut (tools menu)…
