Hey Peter! You gonna fly over the Atlantic for this show?

Sort of sounds like the cable could be at fault. Tried a different one? FW cables are really funky unless they weren’t the cheapies…

Dub the camera masters to DV, and work like you always have with DV…

I’d use the Ethernet option then… and both machines probably have gigabit E so it’s a lot faster than you think!
Connect them directly…. don’t go thru any hubs etc… that way you’ll get the fastest rate you can get.

If you turn on the Limit capture now captures in the scratch disk settings to some sort of file size limit, the system will allocate that disk space before it starts the capture… suppose that’s what’s going on?

Might be a coincidence that this happened at the same time a reinstall happened… However can you reimport these files (not reconnect, but import them again) and see if just replacing the old references with these newly imported versions works for you.

Try using the intermediate codec. Some HDV formats are not supported in FCP BTW… might post what the format that was shot is, and expecially from which camera. JVC and Canon Cameras shoot formats that aren’t supported directly in FCP…

The markers that FCP supports are only supported in the Apple apps as far as I know… i.e. iDVD, DVD SP…

There’s an advantage to running 5.1 system wide. It’s faster… even on PPC machines, tests are showing faster renders…
Hey, it’s 50 bucks per station, right? I’d suggest you simply upgrade all your licenses…
