Hey I recently had to reinstall my FCP HD. Everything opens okay and stuff, but one of my recent film projects had a bunch of audio files that went offline somehow in the process. No big deal, I go in and reconnect the audio files one by one. However, once the files are reconnected, I go to play the film and I get a “General Error” message and it won’t let me play it. I have another saved version of the same film, and I choose not to reconnect those same audio files, and the film plays just fine.

So as soon as I reconnect the files, it won’t let me play it. If I let the same files stay offline, then I can edit, hear, and play the film just fine. Have you guys ever heard of this before?

Might be a coincidence that this happened at the same time a reinstall happened… However can you reimport these files (not reconnect, but import them again) and see if just replacing the old references with these newly imported versions works for you.
