HDV, Mpeg-2 artifacting on capture FCP 5.1
I just upgraded our suite to FCP5.1, and am trying to capture HDV for the first time. The first time I tried to capture, we briefly got picture, then it became full of green artifacts and disappeared. Now I can’t get video on the log and capture screen. I still have deck control, and can capture dv no problem. Previous to this problem, we had a problem exporting Mpeg-2 clips for DVD, and a similar thing would happen to them, green artifacts and then they wouldn’t play.
Since HDV is an mpeg-2 format, I thought there might be a connection. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? I have several HDV projects waiting. Thanks…

Try using the intermediate codec. Some HDV formats are not supported in FCP BTW… might post what the format that was shot is, and expecially from which camera. JVC and Canon Cameras shoot formats that aren’t supported directly in FCP…

Any idea when and if FCP is going to put out a codex that will support the new JVC 720P HD camera?
