No, but be sure that you have set the viewer’s view options to RGB, and Image or Image and wireframe.

Try taking your media offline, then reconnecting it a few at a time… i.e. put it in another folder, and see if the file opens OK. If so the corruption is in that media, not the sequence per se…

When you reconnect then FCP will crash when it finds the media that you’ll need to recapture/rebuild… save often.

Sounds like the transfer is standard 4:3… and the letterbox was part of the transfer (pretty common). If so then, you should be using just the standard DV NTSC sequence preset.

Boris’ Contiuum contains a dandy filter for this “optical flow” is the filter’s name… also there’s wonderful software from ReVision FX: https://www.revisionfx.com/rstwixtor.htm Either filter uses optical flow technology, and actually creates new frames interpolated from the old where FCP’s slo mo simply adds the same frames again…

Yes, good idea… the premiere titles won’t come forward in an EDL at all.

I should think it will work great for DV and with the FW drive setup for media storage. As far as the licenses go, as long as you only install one license per each desktop computer you are legal… i.e., you aren’t legal if you install on a third desktop machine.

The Sony 9100 or CMX 3600 work much the same Don’t think any EDL can deal with more than 2 tracks of video… I’d send an edl over to the FCP bay before the booking too to make sure all’s well.

https://www.automaticduck.com sells software that will do exactly what you want… CMX lists can have only 2 tracks of video and 4 tracks of audio at the same time, so you need to export separate EDL’s containing no more than these each, then remarry them in FCP without Automatic Duck in your arsenal. And if you have graphic files involved, there’s all sorts of gotchas that will crop up with CMX technology… it’s really old and just isn’t the best way to go here…Also CMX lists with any error in them whatsoever will not import into FCP, so there’s a lot of gotchas there too.

1. Read about the media manager in FCP… does much of what Avid’s decompose does. IV-97 in the online help for FCP should be where ya start…
1.a. Don’t capture clips used in project B into Project A, and you won’t delete clips you still need when you delete the clips from Project A… Also it helps if you don’t trash media from the desktop. If you select everything in your Browser for Project A, then control click and select “make offline” FCP will only delete THOSE files. Of course if you captured Project B’s files there, be sure NOT to select them, or simply delete them from the Browser first. The clps in your Browser are just references to the media and not the media itself.
2. Read about the media manager in FCP… does much of what Avid’s decompose does.
3. When’s the last time you serviced the machine which refuses to make every insert? Could be the problem.
