  • Sequence jumps during play back after rendering & locks up when exporting QT

Posted by Sean Harris on May 18, 2006 at 1:34 pm

My 28:30 minute infomercial jumps during play back (a quick, but noticeable horizontal shift of video). I have rendered and rendered Mix down only. When I try to export to QT the dreaded beach ball comes after about 10 minutes.

Any suggestions? I have switched graphic cards to accomodate Motion, and I am working with a KONA SD card. Generally speaking the switch of graphic card did seem to slow performance, but I just don’t know what to do right now to get this infomercial out the door.

Might trash your render files around the area that isn’t playing back well… then re-render.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I did have a sequence inside the sequence. As a hunch, I removed the sequence and replaced it a copy of all the files in the sequence. After doing that, FCP finally worked through a complete QT export (without lockup) which I used to created a new sequence, and laid to BetaSP. Whew!

The only problem is, that before and not that long ago, I could do a render and mixdown-only render, then lay to tape no problem. It seems like now, I always have to make a QT then lay to tape. Is that normal? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks again.
