    Good Morning!
Not sure what you have tried, but…
    1) Power down, go start a pot of coffee, power up & try again
    2) Verify you have the latest AJA drivers & try again, go grab some fresh air
    3) Make sure you are set up via AJA control panel for AES over BNC
    4) Run Easy Setup for your configuration fix a cup of coffee & try again
    5) Verify you are using an appropriate 75 ohm SDI cable & try again
    6) Hopefully someone will confirm this, but I am fairly certain that you dont have the option on Digibetas to sample at 44.1k, if so make sure your sample rates just trying to think of everything…

    good luck

Try opening it in Photoshop. If it opens, verify that it is RGB mode open the image there and make sure it is RGB mode under the menu: Image >Mode. It may be CMYK or another format if so change it to RGB, save and reconnect.

    Hope this helps

    CIP-
Multi clip is broken in this regard. I’ve noticed this happening when opening a 5.1.x project in 6.01 for sure. Seems that going back to the original computer and media might be the only way to keep it synced…

Also, note if you use Automatic Duck (Which ROCKS!!!) multiclips are not supported

sorry no better info. good luck

[StephenSF] “Has anyone here made the leap from Avid to FCP? I am trying to work out whether I should remap the keys in FCP to more closely resemble Avid’s layout but I’m not sure.
I will be using both so I can’t help feeling switching between the two all the time will be difficult.
    Any ideas?”

I guess then its – Welcome 800,001st FCP User… you are always welcome here!

I like the foreign language comparison.

I tried mapping my keyboard from AVID to FCP… and well I found that there were so many more modifier keys available in FCP!

1st Shortcut I guess would be Option-H for keyboard customization. 🙂

I could never get used to reaching all the way up to F-10 all the time to do an overwrite or insert edit, so I use trusty old memory driven V & B from AVID to overwrite and insert.

Probably the best keys I have found native to FCP are the bracket keys. Highlight a clip and move it with the brackets or select the head and tail of the clip and extend or shorten the clip with the brackets, add the shift key for multiple frame increments defined in the user preferences.

Many options of keyboard customization are great, but I am still longing for the day I can map, Media Tool, Calculator, Timecode window, Trim Mode, oh yeah and also on my list – more elegant Digitize Window with robust asset database, add locators on ingestion, subclips on ingestion, Solid Multi-cam implementation.

But I digress. FCP has been my bread & butter for the past 5 years! A great value, kinda like the new iPhone.

    Cheers!

Just to throw a couple “just to make sure’s”

Make sure you have Editing and not Mastering selected from the pull down menu in the Edit to Tape window. (That one’s gotten me before).

I had a very similar thing happen to me with my AJA I/O, and a cycling of power on the AJA and a relaunch did the trick.

    Good luck!

    Adam,

Had many crashes? Have you run Disk Warrior on your boot up drive? How long has it been since you have reinstalled OS & FCP? How much free hard drive space do you have on your media drives?

Ernesto has a good point, make sure no other fire wire devices are on the fire wire bus.

May want to try loading MacDrive on your PC, then mounting a Mac drive on the PC then copy the media to the Mac formatted drive, unmount from PC and try back on the Mac. You could also try file sharing via SAMBA services over Ethernet.

    SD NTSC = 29.97

If you have been editing in 23.98 SD and you are trying to output to DV SD over firewire then I think you are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Thats why a software conversion like you are trying sounds logical. And following Shanes #8… and if you still dont have video and audio then RESTART the mac.

Your LCD is not confined by NTSC SD 29.97 frame rate that TV’s are- thats why you can hear but not see through NTSC output.

Seems like you should be getting video and audio through firewire if you have dropped your seq into a DV-NTSC 29.97

    Best wishes

I have also had instances where everything appears rendered via the solid blue line at the top and is actually not. When you try to play it back it drops frames… and at some point, not sure what, how or why, but the timeline updates and shows orange and green unrendered bars again…”

This sounds like corrupt metadata or corrupt database.

It doesn’t happen here at my place using almost the identical setup (mine is a dual 2.3ghz G5). You should try a reinstall from the ground up if you haven’t already.”

Yeah,it could be corrupt metadata or database… what I am saying here seems to be confirmed by the Apple Tech article posted in this thread. Thanks Oliver & Shane for the info…

I would consider the reinstall route of I wasnt working on a fresh install. When a new version comes out I normally leave that drive alone and go get a new SATA drive and go fresh with OS, APPS, Plugins etc. Good stuff though I appreciate the effort!

And Walter Im with ya I wish we could find some sorta commonality in the issue. Its behavior is just so bizarre that it feels more like a file isnt being written entirely, or there are permission issues… I vaguely remember an earlier version having a similar issue with drives and losing relationships etc. I think it was version 4.

    Oh well…

    have a great week everyone!
