PRINT TO TAPE-24fps timeline issues
Posted by Please_do_not_use_all_caps_for_your_name_or_when_posting on July 31, 2007 at 2:59 pmHey there,
Im having an issue layout out a 24fps project to tape via my DVX100a. I get an audio signal in the output but no video. Is this because the tape and recording device are 29.97? how do I mix this project to minidv? Ive looked all through the settings and haven’t been able to find anything that works. I saw a suggestion on that mentioned placing the project into a 29.97 timeline which seemed to work but the edit gets all screwed up.Thanks
Danny

July 31, 2007 at 3:27 pmFinal Cut will add puldown back the the 24p video stream to get you to 29.97.
What ind of computer do you have and have you selected the proper easy setup?

July 31, 2007 at 4:11 pmIm on a g5 1.67ghz os 10.4.8 fcp 5.1
I try to print to tape using the firewire ntsc dv 720×480 a/v easy setup. The footage was 16mm captured uncompressed 10b from a digibeta deck then conformed to 24fps via cinematools. I edited on a 24fps uncompressed 10bit timeline. now I try to print to tape and I get an audio signal but no video. when i stop the export, my camera pauses on a frame and seems to have captured something but in playback Ive only got audio. Very frustrating.
How do I get fcp to add the pulldown back to get a 29.97 print to tape. Thanks for the response!

July 31, 2007 at 6:28 pmI am able to see the video frame by frame in the LED of the camera but it stays freeze frame when I try to play it real time. I have also tried exporting a self contained quicktime and bringing that into a 29.97 timeline but still no video signal. This has to be just a setting I am missing but Im not sure what it is. Can anyone help? I have to get this footage out in the mail by this afternoon.
Thank you!Danny

July 31, 2007 at 6:34 pmYou have a 10bit timeline and are trying to edit out firewire? Do you have a capture card?
Of not, nest your 10 bit timeline in a dv timeline, choose the dv ntsc easy setup.

July 31, 2007 at 6:43 pmdo I keep it at 24fps or move it to 29.97? I tried this earlier to no result but I will try again.
so these are my current settings
10bit timeline nested in a dv/dvcpro ntsc timeline 24fps
dv-ntsc easy setup…
and this should work?thank you for responding!

July 31, 2007 at 6:47 pmKeep the timeline, 23.98. Try using the dv 23.98 easy setup.

July 31, 2007 at 6:53 pmso a 23.98 sequence and not 24? and there isn’t a 23.98 dv ntsc easy setup, should I create a custom easy setup with 23.98fps?
