July 31, 2007 at 8:11 pmI don’t know what to tell you except that something is messed up. Perhaps it’s a setting on your camera that isn’t allowing firewire in.

July 31, 2007 at 8:23 pmwell thanks for the advice,
Im still not quite sure what you meant by changing my video output to 29.97 and the view menu instructions View-Video Playback-dv 29.97 I am hoping to try this. Also If the firewire was messed up im not sure why I would be able to see the video frame by frame when changing the view-external-current frame. And also I do get a clear audio signal. I think it has to be a setting somewhere I just have to find the right combination…Danny

If you have been editing in 23.98 SD and you are trying to output to DV SD over firewire then I think you are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Thats why a software conversion like you are trying sounds logical. And following Shanes #8… and if you still dont have video and audio then RESTART the mac.
Your LCD is not confined by NTSC SD 29.97 frame rate that TV’s are- thats why you can hear but not see through NTSC output.
Seems like you should be getting video and audio through firewire if you have dropped your seq into a DV-NTSC 29.97
Best wishes

Since FCP 3, Final Cut has been able to add pulldown to dv 23.98 video over firewire. This is not a mystery.
Obviously, he has some settings wrong.

August 1, 2007 at 4:08 pmI was able to remedy the problem just a little late for yesterdays mailing but oh well such is life…
it was an aspect ratio issue. The footage was captured and edited at 720×486 I just placed the sequence in a 720×480 timeline and it worked. Thanks everybody for all of the suggestionsDanny

August 1, 2007 at 4:14 pmIf you had made to true dv sequence by selecting the 23.98 easy setup, then creating a new sequence and nesting, you would have had a dv sequence.
