The Kona 2 is SDI only (with component out). The Kona LS has component in and out, and is not HD. Visit http://www.aja.com for specs. Read posts below to find options for Analog input for the Kona 2.

July 26, 2005 at 11:57 pm in reply to: AJA Control Panel Down Conversion Bug

I have noticed behavior like this with the Reference input as well. I don’t think that it is a bug, but rather the Control Panel knows that there are different modes in FCP and automatically changes when they are entered. Then again maybe it is just a bug.

Have you tried to save a preset to avoid the auto switching?

  • I don’t know if your supposed to do this or not, but it works. Search for this this file on your system FCP Uncompressed 422.component

It can be found on your system drive Library>QuickTime>FCP Uncompressed 422.component

Just copy it in the same location on the computers that you need it on.

ONE NOTE: I have not tried this on a Tiger system, but I have done it several times on 10.3.x

    Hope this helps!

Make sure that when you are in edit to tape mode, that you have the editing mode selected and not mastering.

You might have a timecode break and FCP is calculating the duration as 49 instead of 55. I have had this happen to me in 4.5.

Oh, and also make sure that external video is set to all frames (this is in the view menu).

    Jerry,

I was referring to the Photo-JPEG offline RT. I don’t seam to have a setup for a DV offline RT. Am I missing something?

As far as I know the Kona 2 does NOT support offline RT monitoring. Use all of the AJA easy setups as reference to what you are able to monitor through the Kona 2. However, I think you are able to capture to offline RT through the Kona, just not view it though your monitor.

If you are editing HD offline, and you have the space, I would recommend using the DVDCPOHD codec. You can then monitor it in actual HD or down-convert it and monitor it in SD.

Make sure you choose the correct FCP easy setup. It should be something like AJA Kona 2 720 24 DVCPOHD, depending on your frame rate and how you are set up.
