When you go to edit to tape the K2 will automatically switch your Kona Control Panels reference signal. If you have your Beta and your K2 plugged into house sync, make sure that the Kona Control Panel is set to reference in. Otherwise the beta deck will give you a message like REF NOT STND. This is what I have to do to layback to SP. Your setup might be different and this may not work, but it is worth a try.

QuickTime 7 is required for multi channel audio.

  • Have you checked your reference signal? I had a similar issue with the Kona SD when my black burst cable came undone. When I found it was undone, I plugged it back in and everything was fine.

Please excuse me for this stupid response:

Why don’t you plug the deck into the monitor for viewing??? But if you are using the 1200a deck can’t you just capture SDI through the K2 instead of firewire, then you would have the K2 for monitoring during capture.

I have done numerous text renders with motion and have always found it to be extremely fast. I wish that I could be of more help.

I agree AJA has great support!

Several years ago when I decided to start my own post house, I had never heard of AJA and never used FCP. When I took the leap and bought FCP with an Kona SD board I did not know what to expect. All I can say is that I have been in pure bliss since. The decision to go with the Kona was probably one of the best I have ever made.

Currently there are what, about 2 other options for FCP (as far as cards). While I believe they they are good options (and will also probably be around for at least a little while) but none really compare to the ease and functionality of the Kona 2. Personally I see it as the only contender out there, but that is just what I think.

I believe the newer version of the kona software automatically set this for you. (Could be wrong about this, but it was set when I did a clean install for tiger, never hurts to check though) Use this link to AJAs website for all the info on this. https://www.aja.com/pdfs/KONA2_Audio_FAQ.pdf

August 10, 2005 at 10:23 pm in reply to: LS the same as SD?

The Kona SD runs on ONLY the blackmagic drivers. The LS is a brand new, completely different card.

Yup, just found them, but changing the render to RGB makes it go away here to. I found them in CG done with Title 3D. So unfortunately it is not just your machine. I wonder if it is a problem with QT7?
