  • LS the same as SD?

    Hey guys,
My company has a couple of Kona cards that were bought before I got here. I just looked at the instruction manual that came with them and it is entitled “Kona SD Instruction Manual”. Now we have had them for a while and I don’t know if the “LS” is the newer version of the card we have or the same thing? The reason that I ask is because I would like to update the drivers and codecs, but I only see udates for LS and Kona2, and want to make sure that if I update using the LS updates it isn’t going to be the wrong thing. Plus we are still using the Blackmagic codecs. Has anyone got anything to say on how the AJA codecs compare to the BMD codecs? Is it worth switching?

    Thanks in advance,
    Eli Mavros

The Kona SD runs on ONLY the blackmagic drivers. The LS is a brand new, completely different card.

Thanks for your post…I am glad that I didn’t install the new codecs and driver then. Saved me a big headache.

    Cheers,
    Eli

    Hi Eli,

The latest Kona SD drivers are available from our web site. This same link also provides you with the latest information for using the Kona SD under Panther and Tiger and Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and 5.0. It’s a good idea to review the information to ensure that you are running compatible versions of Mac OS X, QuickTime, Final Cut Pro and the latest drivers for the Kona SD.
