I’m getting some weird horizontal, colored flicker stripes on the PAL monitor. The computer is a brand new 2.7 GHz G5 with Tiger, 4,5 gigabytes of RAM, Final Cut Pro 5 and latest Decklink drivers. At the moment I’m using the internal HD to get things running, since the Medea Raid is not working at all right now.

I get the flicker all the time, not only in FCP but in desktop and After Effects, too. It occurs every few seconds, but when I’m playing something out from FCP, it gets more frequent. I’ve tried moving the Kona card to different slots but the flicker is always there. The next thing I’m planning to try is uninstall and re-install the Decklink drivers again to see if that makes any difference. Other than that, I’m out of ideas.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    all the best,
    Sami

Have you checked your reference signal? I had a similar issue with the Kona SD when my black burst cable came undone. When I found it was undone, I plugged it back in and everything was fine.

    Hi Sami,

Did you purchase your Kona SD before G5’s first started shipping? If so, you will need a firmware update for compatibility with G5’s and AJA support can help you with that. It will require sending your card back to them for an update but it should work fine and others in this forum have reported no problems running the Kona SD with the G5/2.7 DP as long as they have had the firmware update.

    Thanks Jared,

That’s a particularly good suggestion, especially if Sami already has a Kona SD with updated firmware.
