I don’t do any of the mixes you have there, so please take my comments as a wish to assist rather than hinder or criticise. OK . . .
1/- Have you ever done this mix before?
2/- I see you have a mix of interlace and progressive. Have you thought of fixing your project to reflect one of those types? Or how have you set your project to accommodate the differences?
3/- When and where is it choppy? Is it at the break from interlace to progressive?
4/- Less important but, do you have your media on separate hard drives to your system?
5/- Your Build of Vegas11 is Build371. In the White Paper for VP11, I don’t see that Build as part of the dev for VP11? However, the most recent version is Build 701. Is there a reason why you haven’t gone beyond the Build you have? The next/later builds have a MASS of improvements including ACVHD version 2.0. Please read through the improvements – I think you will be staggered!

What is your media and what are the specs of your PC?
If you’re finding each new release of Vegas is going slower, then maybe you need to audit your PC’s specs against the work Vegas is asking it to do?

All of what you ask is most certainly possible. I’ve done it. What is really difficult is explaining this fiddly and feature control option here, through “text”!
Ok, track down the END ACTIONS controls. This will ensure that at the END or finish off a Play will get you back at the END of an ACTION.
Now, your PLAY once and get to “another” Menu is also possible without that event showing.
As I say, to describe is difficult for me. Others can have a go. What I will advise you to do is track down Gary Rebholtz’s DVDA Seminar it’s brilliant! Gary is SCS’s Product Training Manager at Sony Creative Software and is full if ideas and solutions. Check out his tutorials and Seminars.

December 9, 2012 at 8:03 am in reply to: V12 copy/paste with “Color Curves” not workingJust reproed this one and I’ll report this to SONY too.
P.E.A. to another instance of alternative FX, say BumpMap, and the Preset comes along nicely.
Clearly, this Colour Curve behaviour I would class as “Unexpected Behaviour”
It is CLEARLY working as expected in VP11 and would suggest that this is a previously acknowledged, purposeful and valued User requirement.
So, to recap:
1/- BAD: No Paste Event Attribute of Colour Curve Preset between Instances of VP12 B394.
2/- GOOD: Successful with another FX – Bump Map – between instances of VP12 B394
3/- CONTROL USED: Success using VP11 Paste Event Attributes of Colour Curves Preset between instances of VP11 works as expected.

December 8, 2012 at 7:27 am in reply to: Creating Dizzy Stars/Birds effect like in cartoonsParticle Illusion is a Plugin to VP11 and also now in VP12. It has the ability to manipulate particles and you CAN utilise your own graphics elements.
Your request has inspired me to check the options on using pI to the point I’ve made a conference call-out to a long-standing graphic-artist friend of mine to invite him to being involved on the actual elements. Interesting . . .

December 8, 2012 at 7:22 am in reply to: Need to learn film editing with one of Sony Vegas products!Welcome aboard Robert!
[Robert Michaelson] “Since I am new to editing can I please get some advice on which Sony Vegas I should start with?”
Hmmm…. Whatever version you get make sure:
- 1/- Your PC/Video card can handle the features. You have much reading to do.
- 2/- That the version can/will handle the output from your camera.
Having said 1 and 2 you can ALWAYS download Demo versions to try ’em out.
OK . . . . next . . .
[Robert Michaelson] “Vegas Pro 9 or 10?”
I’ll doubt you’ll get a legal copy of VP10 and less VP9. You maybe fortunate to get an officially SONY recognised User wanting to sell their licence, but that you’d have to clear with SONY.
Next . . . .
[Robert Michaelson] ” Is there much difference between the two.”
Yes: For me VP9 worked, and worked well. VP10 was messy and I was needing to bridge the gap between 32bit and 64bit, in many unfortunate ways. I’m now on VP12 and it is starting to feel like the stability of VP9. VP11? As long as I stayed in 64bit it was sufficient to the day. But now with VP12, and ALL the features it is offering I wouldn’t return to VP9.
The other option is to cut your teeth on the more budget end Vegas platform and then when you’re ready UG to the full blown Vegas. Oh yeah, do check out the Upgrade prices AND the various Vegas Suite Comparison Charts over on the SONY Vegas.
You’re asking the correct questions. Now it is over to you to do some extensive research to get your best fit to your hardware: PC+Camera, and your experience with the DEMOs.
Have fun!

[Rob Thomson] “Has anyone else had problems with Vegas Pro 12?”
Not the ones you’ve listed. So far, with a few exceptions, VP12 feels as stable as VP9. I found VP11 and VP10, with the 32bit to 64bit transition, truly messy.
If you are working in a full 64bit environment, have got any 32bit only plugs?

The other place is the actual Preview Window option. This is with Bump Map applied at the Preview Level and it is left ON, see the Green FX Icon?:-
And here OFF. But you would STILL need to remove it from the preview Window itself:-
BUT, again, you can have the Preview Icon GREEN=”FX available”, but switched OFF in the Bump Map FX Control:-
I’ve done this, and have caught myself out by it.
From what you’ve said, I’m not sure this adds to John’s choice of 4, but it may.
