Yes you can do it but it is not easy. If you have an extra mac lying around you have to run composite video out of your deck to an A to D converter and take the firewire to the other computer. Have a second AIM account for the other computer and the client will see the firewire output and then you could see the client on your machine. This was demonstrated a few years ago at NAB at the apple event.

  • Do you need to sell it to pay for the new computer. If not, keep it and relegate it to minor duties that would otherwise be performed on the new system and tie it up. Just a thought.

What would be bad about it? A friend still uses 4.5 on a 766 G4. Works fine. Slow, but still edits DV video.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT. It is the card that takes up two slots. It was replaced by an ATI card and was working when it was taken out of the G5. If you want to suggest a price?

Sorry but that scenario is not sustainable. Say the $2000 job takes twenty hours. $100 a hour. Person B will only be making $75. Then person C will make $50 per hour. Adding in After Effect and then Maya will only increase the number of hours on the commercial and that guy will end up making only $5 an hour. There are only so many hours in a day. That guy will price himself out of business. Set your price but be somewhat flexible. The guy charging $500 but putting out crap will eventually look less desirable. In my experience you get what you pay for. Just a thought.

You want Apple to be green. You don’t want Apple to be green. Which is it? Drop the pdf off at Kinkos and let them do it. The additional printed manuals to FCS2 would surley increase the $1,299 price tag. Of the 800,000 registered users, how many have even cracked a manual? 10%. If more people read the manuals Shane would not have his stock answers number 1 through however many he has.
