  • Running FCP4.5 HD on a SINGLE chip g4 is bad?

Posted by Keith Mann on June 23, 2007 at 1:50 am

I’ve just had a FCP guru insist that only FCP 4.1 should run on a single chip G4.

That running FCP 4.5HD on a single chip G4 is bad.

That FCP 4.5HD needs a duo chip G4.

My home machine is running a single chip 867 G4 and I’m wondering if I should go back to FCP4.1 I never do HD on this machine so I could probably do so.

    Any thoughts are most welcome.

One option is to get a processor upgrade so your software sees the higher speed…with the right drives, things should work pretty well.

What would be bad about it? A friend still uses 4.5 on a 766 G4. Works fine. Slow, but still edits DV video.
