You have to point it to the folder containing the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders.

I’m not sure I’m following this but here’s how it works:

Place MARKERS on the timeline where you want CHAPTER POINTS on the DVD
Place REGIONS on the timeline where you want to render small segments
Place COMMAND MARKERS on the timeline where you want it to pull out snapshots.

As for saving the markers so they become chapter points, you need to make sure the “Save Markers” checkbox is checked by default on the Render As dialog.

Yes. Every frame will be decompressed and recompressed – with the corresponding loss of quality – when using MPEG2 files.

I’m sure many people are like me and have it burned on a CD. However, I don’t know where you can download it from. Why not use 6.0c?

Jim, e-mail me with more information and the VEG file in question. As long as all the markers are set up correctly, it should be dissolving unless the switch Gary mentioned is set wrong. It will help for me to see the VEG, though.

Also, note that there is a new version now available. Excalibur 4.6 can be downloaded now and has even more control over dissolves. The markers can be set as follows:

1d – Dissolve to camera 1 centered on marker (exactly the same as before)
1c – Cut to camera 1 (exactly the same as before)
1b – Dissolve to camera 1 with the entire dissolve BEFORE the marker
1a – Dissolve to camera 1 with the entire dissolve AFTER the marker

I usually recommend just change the screen resolution to a higher resolution, locating the window, and dragging back to the main area.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: hold down CTRL-SHIFT when starting Vegas. This will reset everything back to factory defaults (including the settings you WANTED changed).

What about the “Stop capture on dropped frames” setting?

First place I would look is the WINDOWS volume controls or at the driver software that came with the card.

VBR simply means “Variable Bit Rate”

Your AVERAGE Bit rate must be low enough so that the file size is small enough to fit on the DVD. Otherwise DVDA would have to recompress. For 2 hours, an average bitrate of 4,825,000 with AC3 audio will work.

Version 6.0 was on some original CD’s but was NOT the release version. The first officially released version was 6.0a but it had many problems. Version 6.0b made it stable enough for me to start using it. Version 6.0c fixes even more problems and is what I am now using. I would NOT go below 6.0b.
