We are working on a project using vegas 6. Now we would like put narrations to sections of the video. Is there a software where we can go staight into my computer instead of to tape then computer?

Yeah. It’s called Vegas. Vegas can record from your sound card directly to the timeline.

Hook your mic to your sound card
Add an Audio track to the timeline
Right-click the audio track header, choose “Record Inputs” and pick the appropriate input.
Click the “Red” button on the audio track header to “Arm” the track
Click on the “Red” button below the timeline to start recording and then start talking into the microphone.

Thanks jeditv. It works on my system but on my clients system they has a surround sound card with a mic input but i can’t get the audio to have a good level(very low). What should i check to see causing this problem?

    Thanks

First place I would look is the WINDOWS volume controls or at the driver software that came with the card.

As Ed said check the Windows volume controls and look for ‘Sound & Audio Device Properties’. On the ‘audio’ tab look for sound recording and ‘volume’. This selection button should take you to ‘recording control’. On the control panel look for the ‘microphone’ slider, check that it’s all the way up and if it has an ‘advanced’ tab at the bottom select that and on the ‘advanced controls’ panel hopefully you will find a ‘mic boost’ check box, tick it. If that doesn’t do it you may need a mic pre-amp to get sufficient input gain.
