Go to File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc and then point to your DVD. It should all work fine then.

Hook your mic to your sound card
Add an Audio track to the timeline
Right-click the audio track header, choose “Record Inputs” and pick the appropriate input.
Click the “Red” button on the audio track header to “Arm” the track
Click on the “Red” button below the timeline to start recording and then start talking into the microphone.Edward Troxel

Yeah. It’s called Vegas. Vegas can record from your sound card directly to the timeline.

Guess that kind of depends on where you are. Where I’m at, MPEG1 Layer2 audio is NOT part of the DVD specification. It is not a requirement for players in the United States to support that format.
Out of curiosity, why use MPEG audio instead of AC3 audio?

Excalibur will (Asset tab – DVD Asset Collector). I’m sure the Veggie Toolkit will too. Not sure about other offerings. Was trying to give the “free” version a chance first.

You’ll need to use a script for this. A script can easily render any marked region to any specified format. Go to Tools – Scripting – Batch Render.

That should work fine as long as you render each individual MPEG into an individual DV-AVI.

Sure. Just pop the MPEG files onto the timeline and choose File – Render As – pick AVI as the file type and then NTSC DV as the preset (or PAL DV as required)

MPG is NOT a good editing format. If you capture and edit with DV-AVI you will get much better performance and better quality as well.
