Flickering frames
Hey guys,
Im still having the problem of my video flickering during transitions. I’ve uploaded a small section to show you here;
http://www.jeremydeming.com/test.aviThe part I renderd was simply two shots on the same track fading into each other, but it flickers into full opacity frames during the fades. I’ve tried so many things to correct this but Im not sure where im going wrong.
Id really appreciate any help you can give me,

What version of Vegas are you running?
What happens if you move the media to a different drive?Gary

Hey,
I am running vegas 6.0.
Theres no change if I move the file to a different drive, though it is 1.5gb. Could it be because the file is too large? I am running it on a 2.4ghz 512m ram 128mb video PC… Could I possibly need more RAM?

What is the source of these files? 1.5Gig is definitely NOT too big. I have used files much larger. Remember, standard DV-AVI is 13Gig/hour. I’m wondering what type of file these really are. AVI is just a wrapper than can hold many different formats.

Hey,
I recorded these files in MPG format using my winfast capture card. Basicly set it to the highest quality and recorded it straight off my camera. They play fine if I view them in media player, but when i start to edit some parts just tend to flicker.

MPG is NOT a good editing format. If you capture and edit with DV-AVI you will get much better performance and better quality as well.

Crap… i’ve allready returned the camera too….
Is there anyway I can open the whole source video in vegas, then output it as avi then work on it then?

Sure. Just pop the MPEG files onto the timeline and choose File – Render As – pick AVI as the file type and then NTSC DV as the preset (or PAL DV as required)

Would I then be able to rename my old source video, open vegas and then when it asks where the source video is, point it to the new one? would it then pick up all the right parts i’ve cut up and things? or should I just start over?

That should work fine as long as you render each individual MPEG into an individual DV-AVI.
