What is the source of these files? 1.5Gig is definitely NOT too big. I have used files much larger. Remember, standard DV-AVI is 13Gig/hour. I’m wondering what type of file these really are. AVI is just a wrapper than can hold many different formats.

You can also use Track Motion. If you resize the image, remember that’s how it will be when you do the final render! What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you wanting to do something like create a PIP? Or do you want to see multiple angles for a multi-cam project, for example?

A lower resolution image CAN actually help because you will have fewer “thin” lines. The problem is really your interlaced TV so you have to dumb down the images to the TV looks better.

Your BEST bet is to buy the songs with the vocals already removed. You might be able to get somewhat close but it’s, generally, a losing proposition. Having said that, there is a “Vocal Removal” preset in Sound Forge you can try. No guarantees how well it will work. Beyond that, you could try this:
1. Load the original stereo file.
2. Copy just the left channel to a new edit window.
3. Copy just the right channel to another new edit window.
4. * Reverse the polarity of the new left channel.
5. * Apply a low end shelf cut starting at 200 Hz. (at least 12 dB./octave) to the new left channel.
6. Paste the processed left channel into the new right channel in Mix mode (not Overwrite).
7. Audition the result and, if it’s acceptable, save it to a new Wave file.Edward Troxel

Create a menu that is the looping logo. Have 5 menu options there. Make sure the FIRST one is the first interview.
Set the “End Action” of the interview back to the menu but set the SECOND interview as the button to be highlighted.
Set the “End Action” of the SECOND interview back to the menu but set the THIRD interview as button to be highlighted.
Repeat with the remaining interviews.
Now it should behave as you are wanting EXCEPT you’ll hit ENTER each time instead of NEXT.

Suppose you have a lot of buyout music, or backgrounds, or clipart, or lowerthirds, etc… that you need to be able to quickly search. The Media Manager will allow you to import all of those various media and enter them in various categories and give them various “tags”. Then you can quickly search to find the “Sesame Street Theme” song you have without searching all over the hard drive.
For individual project clips, I don’t use it. Instead, everything from one event is in one folder and properly named. But if you have a lot of “common” media, it can be very useful to help quickly find items.

Tom, the LATEST version of Excalibur (4.5 as of this writing) will work with Vegas 5.0b or newer or 6.0b or newer. No need to NOT get the latest version even if you’re still on Vegas 5.
The “dropout fix” tool was previously in Neon.
