Yes, if you want 4:3, just create a 4:3 DVD and make sure the TV is set to play at 4:3.

Make a selection area around the part you wish to remove. Press “S” to split on both sides. Move the audio you wish to keep somewhere else on the timeline (outside of the selection area) for “safe keeping.” Manually delete everything else in that area. Now “Post Ripple” it closed.
Also, remember you can always bring back ANY audio at ANY time using the Trimmer. What audio you place under the video really doesn’t matter in terms of Multi-Cam editing. Bottom line – the “blank” areas have to be removed from the timeline to simplify the multi-cam process. Then bring any audio you want to suppliment that video.

That’s because your images are actually TOO HIGH of a resolution. Thin lines cause what you are describing because of the interlacing on the TV. The major things to try first are:
1) Render at BEST quality (should use “Best” when using photos but for video only, “Good” is usually sufficient)
2) Turn on “Reduce Interlace Flicker”
3) Maybe add a slight Blur

On my TV, it appears to be a TV setting. If I set the TV to 4:3, I get bars on the left and right. If I set it for 16:9, it stretches to fill the screen.

I would never use DVD Shrink to make a DVD smaller. All you’re doing is taking an MPEG2 file and shrinking (i.e. RE-RENDERING) to a smaller MPEG2 file which can only result in a loss of quality. Instead, I would re-render from the original source to a smaller MPEG2 file.
However, in the above case, the indication is that the DVD is small enough but Nero is confused saying that 6 Gig of info won’t fit on an 8 Gig disc.

I usually render each section out to a DV-AVI file as I finish that section. I then will create a “final” project from all the various sections and then render THAT to MPEG2 in Vegas.
