  • Render a 4:3 project for widescreen TV

Posted by Matt Chapman on September 21, 2005 at 12:11 am

    Hi all-
i did do a search for this using the terms 16:9 amd 4:3, but couldn’t find anything…I have a project which was shot as DV (720 x 480), and is to be displayed as 4:3.

However, i know that the TV that i am sending it to will be a widescreen TV. What are the settings to get it to play correctly. IE – i want to have black bars on the right and left of the screen so that the true image shows on the TV.

    Thanks
    matt

On my TV, it appears to be a TV setting. If I set the TV to 4:3, I get bars on the left and right. If I set it for 16:9, it stretches to fill the screen.

so that means just render it as a 4:3 and make a 4:3 DVD, right?

    i will try it.

    thanks!

Yes, if you want 4:3, just create a 4:3 DVD and make sure the TV is set to play at 4:3.
