  • Media Library problems with Vegas 6

I have been using Vegas 4 successfully, and am just now trying to get Vegas 6 working, but have been having trouble with the program not responding. I have uninstalled a couple of times, also removed MS SQL server and the Sony Media Manager. I have tried installing from the original Vegas 6 disc, then upgrading to Vegas 6c, and also tried just installing from the Vegas 6c download. Still getting the same trouble–the program does not respond. I got this error message recently: “The Media Library experienced an unrecoverable error. The Media Library will be closed.” The details were: “System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Had similar problems when I first installed V6 on WinXP SP1. They weren’t resolved until I went to WinXP SP2 plus updating the Microsoft .Net Framework to v1.1 SP1, plus I think there may even have been another patch I added after that. If you don’t have these items installed it may be, just may be the cause of your problems. I know it resolved all our Media Manager issues. Good luck.

Thanks. I have not installed SP2, because it kept making my system crash when I tried several times. I hope there’s another solution! Thanks, Jim

I can get Vegas 6 working, but not 6c (not responding, as above). Not sure what is going on. I’m wondering if there is an advantage to trying 6b. Jim

Version 6.0 was on some original CD’s but was NOT the release version. The first officially released version was 6.0a but it had many problems. Version 6.0b made it stable enough for me to start using it. Version 6.0c fixes even more problems and is what I am now using. I would NOT go below 6.0b.

Is 6.0b available somewhere? I see only 6.0c on the website, and I had not downloaded 6.0b. Thanks, Jim

I’m sure many people are like me and have it burned on a CD. However, I don’t know where you can download it from. Why not use 6.0c?
