Ok, from a programmer’s point of view… What if you have TWO presets with the EXACT SAME SETTINGS? Which should appear? The first one alphabetically? The first one created? The last one created?

The current behaviour makes perfect sense to me. You pick a preset and it changes the settings to that preset’s values. They’re a STARTING point. Now you make adjustments to fine tune for that particular video clip. It saves the SETTINGS – it doesn’t need to know IF a preset was used or, if used, which one was used. Therefore, it also can’t recall if a preset was used.

Gary is correct that the same seems to remain on audio track effects. However, that is just as confusing because I changed a couple of settings and it STILL recalled that preset name although the settings were NOT the same as that preset. I then picked that same preset name again and NOTHING CHANGED. I had to pick a different preset and then come back to the original preset before the settings were changed back.

I understand it would be nice. But the question becomes how PRACTICAL it is.

Type one great big long line in the text generated media. Now go to the “Positioning” tab and set the top to the proper position (Y value), now change the X Value so that it is off the right-hand side of the screen. Now add a second keyframe at the end of the generated media nad change the X Value so that it is off the left-hand side of the screen. Done.

You *may* need to change the “length” field in the generated media.

As far as I know, you’ll need to do them one keyframe at a time, unfortunately.

Yes, you can use external drives for this purpose. You can also use them as either firewire or usb. I’m able to capture via firewire through the firewire drive. Other people have had problems doing that and hook up the drive via usb.

If you need to create the overlaps AFTER they’re already on the timeline, scripting will do it for you.

You do NOT want to render to MPEG2 and then put them all on a new timeline for another render to MPEG2. If you are going to pre-render sections, just render them to DV-AVI and then add the four DV-AVI files to the new timeline for final rendering to MPEG2.

As Gary said, you could also render them individually to MPEG2 and combine them with some other program (but NOT Vegas).

You don’t open the files, you open the DISC (i.e. drive D)

Ok, I just tested out the process. Took one of my DVDs, popped it into the DVD player in my computer, and chose File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc. It then popped up an “Importing” dialog saying it was going to pull in 7 VOB files. So you’re not getting that dialog?

You don’t pick the folders – you pick the drive.

Are you SURE it “did nothing”? Did you look in the Media Pool?
