    Hi!

    I just started editing using Vegas on my Fitiju Lifebook 3500 laptop.

    My question is using external hard drives either firewire or USB 2 to capture my project to and edit on. I’m thinking of using 7200 rpm drives.

    Any experience and or recommendations with this?

    Looking for a way to make it work with all the data….

    Yes, you can use external drives for this purpose. You can also use them as either firewire or usb. I’m able to capture via firewire through the firewire drive. Other people have had problems doing that and hook up the drive via usb.

    Both USB2 and firewire will work fine.

    I, too, have had no problem capturing to USB2 7200 rpm drives. One of my drives is a 40 gig tiny 5400 rpm drive. Works great.

    You might be best off covering your bases with a combination firewire/USB2.0 drive.

    Firewire usually works just fine but not always.
