the HGX may not be suited for every type of production. it appears at the moment if you are shooting HD and need long recording times then P2 may not be the way to go so you move to a camera that does what you need. IMO panasonic has been looking and giving results for those doing real production .. the camera is not out yet and other then pixels and color space we have nothing to judge the image but as with all of the current hand size camera’s VS. the shoulder top of the line size camera’s the better image is with the larger CCDs/camera’s …
you mention the sony 900 ? are you referring to the cine alta or the hand size dv 900 ??

Underexposed video I need to fix urgently.color curves works excellent but it does have a higher learning curve then say using the Sony Color Correction FX using either gain ( lifts blacks the least) , or gamma ( lifts mid range the most) , or offset ( lifts all area’s equal) ..
guessing is using a combination of gain & gamma – watch the waveform …if you have not used the gain, gamma, off set in color correction fx i would recommend that you take a little time and experiment using the smpte color bars ( add generated media – sony test patterns to video track). keep eye on waveform while moving slidrs – then see what happens to the bars as you use gamma ( notice how it lifts the midrange nore then blacks & highlights) , try off set – note how it lifts all bars equal , then try the gain and note how it has least affect on blacks and as you go up the scale ( brighter bars reading right to left) each is raised more then the one before it ( looking right to left)
when using the color curves – you can add points so you only affect blacks or mid range , or highlights or all …

after you get NRS working i think you’ll find that using distribute NRS on 2 computers is slower then rendering on one computer because of the “stitching” time. NRS works very nice when you are editing a project on computer 1 and then you assign computer 2 to render a project/section while you continue to edit on computer 1, or you stck up rendering jobs to render over night or while you are out … i have found that even with 3 computers for most projects one computer is faster then the 3 .. when you hit 4 & above computers then you’ll find that it saves time using distribute rendering …

yes ( and a little no) .. yes you can edit clips from digibeta in 4:2:2 color space with Vegas … you’ll have to digitize it with hardware that can capture 4:2:2 … if you use decklink and Vegas 6 to capture it will capture/output 8bit 4:2:2 clips ..
the NO part is digibeta is 10bit .. vegas does not work in 10bit nor will the V6 capture utility capture 10bit ( captures 8 bit using the sony YUV codec ).. i believe using decklinks capture utility will capture 10 bit but Vegas will process the renders i believe in 8bit???
8 or 10 bit is up to the individual… all broadcast video and i believe HD is 8 bit .. there are other NLE that will edit digibeta clips in 10 bit … -

YES ..set ram to zero … to clear the RAM after you set to zero then close all instances of Vegas .. then open Vegas …
