    Hello,
I have a video I downloaded that I wanted to look at in Vegas but it won’t even see the file. The extension is .mpe I tried changing to mpeg. Then it would see it but not open it. I would just forget it, except that Windows Media Player sees and plays it fine. Are there additional codecs or patches for Vegas?
    Thanks,
    Paul

did you change the extension to mpeg or mpg ?
i have some old files that were created using AV master ( hardware card- but i no longer have the card) ) WMP will play the files but Vegas will only play the audio – doesn’t see the image ?

I tried changing the extension to mpeg, which didn’t help. When in Vegas looking for the file, it doesn’t show up as an icon or anything whereas windows shows it as a thumbnail. It’s not that big a deal, I just thought Vegas should see it and be able to open it. Am I missing a plugin or something?

Try changing the extension to *.mpg instead of *.mpeg. The extra e may mess things up.
