Sorry just finally read the whole post. A lot of .mov’s don’t play nice with vegas, and the older any editor version is codec support gets worse not better. Converting it into mp4 may or may not work, if it needs a transparency I assume it has one but maybe not, perhaps you can get away with using chroma keyer if need be. You can also try putting the mov in hitfilm express and rendering it as a transparent avi. just look up a tutorial on how to do it, it just a setting. Then when you put it in vegas you have to right click on the avi then go into properties/alpha channel then pick probably premultiplied, but if that doesn’t work try unmatted or premultiplied dirty.

You can have multi colored text with hitfilm express which is free and I use it a lot for text, you can export frames as transparent pngs making it really easy to overlay in vegas. Here is a couple recent ones I made that would not have been fun to make it vegas but relatively easy in hitfilm.

If you are create a selection area with left click and drag typically everything in that selection will be deleted if you hit delete. If the cursor is above several tracks and nothing is selecting using split will split everything. If something is highlight yellow with by clicking on it or using the selection tool then only that will be effected. If you’re looking to delete several media events try clicking on the first one then hold ctrl as you click on the additional. If you want to delete portions of several clips you need to split them first or use the left click and drag method. You can either hit the delete key, the delete button, another way is to right click and just cut them, which sort of deletes them but you can do it without moving the mouse too much and with one hand. I love having a mouse with extra buttons so you can map things like delete, undo and split.

Youtubes compression kind of sucks for things that are moving a lot and are a similar color. So things like sky or water can come out looking very blocky. It’s also something mp4’s in general can have some trouble with.

Can vegas track pictures and video now? I thought it could only track effects or text.

Somethings that might help. Disable resample, make sure two pass encoding is not checked. Remove the preview window. Close every other program then go into task manager right click on vegas then go to details, find vegas again i think right click on it and set priority to real time.
