The latest update for 18 helped with stability for me too. I’m not crashing nearly as often.

I have that option checked off but i still cant get the trimmer to appear in the preview window. Ok I got rid of the preview over the trimmer now it works

  • The look that that screamed GameFaqs circa 2001 made me nostalgic, but I guess this is OK too.

John Rofrano is like the Chuck Norris of VEGAS Pro. He doesn’t even use it anymore, and he still probably understand version 18 better than I do.

  • Another thing you can do is have two copies on top of each other. Have the one on top be the masked one with masked FX portion off or whatever, then apply the other effects to the one on the bottom.

I believe Premeire Pro can use a more recent version of closed captioning which is major for some professionals, has a lot more 3rd party support, is the “industry standard” which means if you are looking for work as a video editor and don’t use the adobe suite good luck finding anything that involves any collaboration.

Those are the reasons I can think of. In terms of actual program capabilities they are neck and neck, VEGAS Pro after the last few versions might actually have the greater ability, it’s all easier to work with, and way faster. It’s making strides to try an offer an alternative version of something like the adobe suite as well but it’s got a long way to go.

Try going into preferences/display and disabling High Dpi Scaling.

I have a similar problem. I can use it on anything, but if I try to use it a second time it fails. The only way around this I have found is to add the effect to everything, save the project and reload the project and now it works on everything I used it on.

  • Vegas Pro 18 is Vegas Pro 18. Edit – Pro – Suite are the packages. Edit being just Vegas Pro 18 stand alone. It’s a little confusing but not intentionally misleading. And honestly vegas can probably do 95% of what soundforge can do. I first got soundforge pro in 2012 and I was excited at first, until I realized damn near everything I thought to do was also done the same way in vegas pro save for a couple things that I used once or twice and never really used the program anymore after that.

Well the free version of particle illusion is free and it’s pretty neat. I like going through all the particle systems to give me ideas for my own. It’s a good particle generator to sure, though the one that comes with vegas effects which is part of suite/hitfilm pro I think can do more all though you would have to import or create some of your own particles because it doesn’t come with as many. Also the free version doesn’t let you import footage, but you could still export stuff to overlay obviously. Particle illusion also only does particles, vegas effects does a bunch of different effects. Suite also comes with a photoshop like program.

Vegas pro comes with vegas edit and dvd authoring software, its also supposed to come with sound forge pro 14, which is kind of whatever since vegas pro is so good at audio editing all ready but it can still do a few things vegas cant
